Is DoorDash DashPass worth it?

Delivery memberships sell a feeling of saving on every order. Whether you actually save depends on one number: how often you order.

Count your orders

Look at the last three months of delivery orders. DashPass waives delivery fees and reduces service fees on eligible orders above a minimum basket. Estimate what you would have saved and compare it with the membership. Frequent orderers clear the bar easily; occasional ones rarely do.

Small orders may not qualify

Benefits apply to eligible orders above a minimum. If you mainly place small orders, check how many would actually have qualified before assuming the membership pays off.

You may already have it

DashPass has been included with certain credit cards and other memberships. Check your card benefits before paying directly — a membership you already have through a card is one of the most common duplicate charges in this category.

The Uber One overlap

Households often hold both DashPass and Uber One. Unless you use both apps heavily, keeping the one you order through most and cancelling the other usually saves more than any plan change.

Monthly versus annual

Annual billing is cheaper if you are sure you will keep ordering at the same rate. If your ordering varies — seasonal, or tied to a period of long working hours — monthly keeps the option to stop.

Signals it is worth it

You order several times a month, most orders qualify, and you do not already get DashPass through a card.

Grocery delivery is a separate membership decision with its own overlaps; is Walmart+ worth it works through it.

Signals it is not

You order occasionally, your orders are small, or a credit card already includes it.

Delivery memberships are easy to lose track of once they renew quietly; tracking subscriptions without linking a bank keeps them visible.
