How to Cancel Match

The short answer
You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, so cancelling early does not lose you time. Hiding your profile or deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

Find out who bills you
Match subscriptions are billed by Match directly, the App Store or Google Play. Cancel where you subscribed.

Sign in on the Match website, open Settings (the gear icon) and choose the option to manage or cancel your membership. Follow the steps to the end.

On iPhone open your Apple subscriptions and cancel Match there; on Android use Google Play subscriptions.

Save the confirmation and note the last day of your subscription.
Before you cancel

Before you cancel entirely
Before cancelling, check whether a cheaper tier or an annual plan would solve the problem. Annual billing is typically fifteen to twenty percent cheaper than monthly.
Deleting is not cancelling
The most common mistake with dating subscriptions is deleting the app or the profile and assuming billing stops. With app store billing it does not; the subscription keeps renewing until it is cancelled where it was bought.
Packages renew at their full length
Dating services sell one-, three- and six-month packages that renew automatically, often for the same length. The renewal can be the largest single charge — note the date when you subscribe.
Pause the profile, not the subscription
Hiding or pausing a profile is a privacy setting, not a billing one. If you want a break without paying, cancel the renewal and let the paid period run out.
If you are charged after cancelling
- •Keep the cancellation confirmation. An email or a screenshot showing the date is the document that resolves this, and it is much easier to save now than to reconstruct later.
- •If you are charged after cancelling, contact the provider first with the confirmation attached. Most reverse the charge without argument when presented with a timestamped confirmation.
- •If the provider does not resolve it, your bank or card issuer can reverse the payment. Card networks treat a charge after a documented cancellation as a straightforward chargeback, and the confirmation is the evidence you need.
- •For recurring card payments you can also instruct your bank to block future payments to that merchant. In the EU and UK, banks are required to honour this instruction even if the merchant continues to request payment.
