How to Cancel Rogers

Cancel Rogers in a few minutes. Exact steps, the traps to avoid, refund rules, and what happens to your data after cancellation.

The short answer

Rogers costs CAD 45.00/month. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, so cancelling early does not lose you time. Streaming services added to a Rogers package are billed by Rogers — cancelling in the streaming app will not stop the charge.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Identify what you are cancelling

Rogers bundles TV, internet, mobile and streaming add-ons. Decide whether you are removing one add-on or the whole service — the process differs.

  2. 2

    Check the contract term

Some services carry a term commitment. Confirm whether an early-exit charge applies before you cancel.

  3. 3

Contact Rogers or use your online account

Add-ons can often be removed in the online account; full cancellation generally requires contacting Rogers.

  4. 4

    Verify on the next invoice

Confirm the charge is actually gone from your next bill.

Before you cancel

  • Streaming services added to a Rogers package are billed by Rogers — cancelling in the streaming app will not stop the charge.
  • Equipment may need to be returned to avoid a fee.
  • Term commitments can carry an early-cancellation charge.

Refunds

Refunds depend on the contract terms. Confirm the final billing date when you cancel.

Before you cancel entirely

Before cancelling permanently, consider rotating: subscribe for one month, watch what you want, then cancel. Streaming services have no minimum term, so rotation is a legitimate way to cut costs without losing access to everything.

Why streaming subscriptions are easy to forget

Streaming is the category where subscription creep does the most damage, for a structural reason: the price point is deliberately set below the threshold at which people scrutinise a charge. A single service at $10 a month does not prompt a decision. Six of them at $67 a month very much would — but you never see that number, because each one bills separately on a different date.

The second factor is that streaming usage is seasonal. You subscribe for one series, watch it over three weeks, and then keep paying for eleven months of not watching. Nothing in the product prompts you to reconsider, because the business model depends on you not reconsidering.

Rotation beats cancellation

Streaming services have no minimum term and no cancellation fee. That makes them the one category where rotation is a genuinely better strategy than permanent cancellation.

Subscribe when there is something you want to watch, watch it, cancel, and move to the next service. Your account, watch history and preferences are preserved when you return — cancelling does not delete anything. Three services rotated one month at a time costs a third of three services held permanently, for very nearly the same access.

The reason most people do not do this is purely operational: it requires remembering to cancel, and the renewal date is not somewhere you look. That is exactly the gap a renewal reminder closes.

If you are charged after cancelling

  • Keep the cancellation confirmation. An email or a screenshot showing the date is the document that resolves this, and it is much easier to save now than to reconstruct later.
  • If you are charged after cancelling, contact the provider first with the confirmation attached. Most reverse the charge without argument when presented with a timestamped confirmation.
  • If the provider does not resolve it, your bank or card issuer can reverse the payment. Card networks treat a charge after a documented cancellation as a straightforward chargeback, and the confirmation is the evidence you need.
  • For recurring card payments you can also instruct your bank to block future payments to that merchant. In the EU and UK, banks are required to honour this instruction even if the merchant continues to request payment.
