Is Paramount+ worth it?

Paramount+ is frequently bundled into other memberships, so the most common mistake is not choosing the wrong tier but paying for something you already have.

Check the perks you already hold

Walmart+ members can choose Paramount+ Essential as part of their membership, switching with Peacock every 90 days. Carriers and other bundles have also included it. If one of these applies, the question becomes whether you need Premium on top — not whether to pay for Paramount+ at all.

Essential or Premium

Essential is the ad-supported tier and does not include the live CBS feed. Premium adds live CBS and the Showtime library, and reduces ads. That makes the choice straightforward: if you watch CBS live or Showtime series, Premium is the tier that covers it; if you watch on demand and do not care about Showtime, Essential usually does.

Sports and franchises

Paramount+ carries a meaningful sports lineup and several long-running franchises. For viewers following a season or a franchise release, it is easy to justify while that runs, and a good candidate for cancellation in between.

Rotation works here too

There is no minimum term. Subscribing for the months you watch and pausing afterwards is usually cheaper than a year-round plan unless you watch across most of the year.

Signals it is worth it

You watch live CBS or Showtime (Premium), you follow its sports or franchises, and you do not already receive it through another membership.

Signals it is not

You already have Essential through Walmart+ or a carrier and never needed Premium, you subscribed for a single season that has ended, or nobody in the house opens it.
