Is Peacock worth it?

Peacock is one of the streaming services people most often pay for twice — once directly, and once without noticing through a membership that already includes it. Checking that is the first step.

You may already have it

Walmart+ members can choose Peacock Premium, the ad-supported plan, as part of their membership, switching between Peacock and Paramount+ every 90 days. Other memberships and cable or internet packages have included Peacock at various times. If any of these apply, paying directly is often redundant.

Sports are the main paid case

Peacock carries live sports from NBC Sports, including Sunday Night Football and NBA games. For viewers who follow those, Peacock can replace a more expensive option and is straightforward to justify during the season.

Outside the season, the same logic as any streaming service applies: there is no minimum term, so pausing your subscription for the off-season is usually the better choice.

Next-day NBC and Bravo

Peacock is where NBC, Bravo and related networks put their shows after broadcast. If you watch those weekly, it is a practical replacement for live TV. If you watch one show occasionally, the free alternatives or a short subscription may be enough.

Premium or Premium Plus

Premium is the ad-supported plan; Premium Plus removes most ads and adds features such as downloads. The difference is worth paying only if you watch enough for ads to bother you — sports viewers in particular should check how ads are handled on live events before upgrading.

Signals it is worth it

You watch its live sports during the season, you follow NBC or Bravo shows weekly, and you do not already receive it through another membership.

Signals it is not

You get Peacock Premium through Walmart+ or another package, the season you watched it for is over, or you opened it for a single event months ago.
